Fred “Freddy” Krueger is the popular villain in the A Nightmare on Elm Street movie series. He was first seen in A Nightmare on Elm Street which was first shown in theaters in 1984. His role was a serial killer with a burnt body and face who wears gloves that are equipped with razors. He uses his gloves in murdering his victims in their dreams. In the movies, what happens to the victims’ dreams are also manifested in the real world. When people encountered him in these dreams, they became helpless to his power. However, Freddy becomes weaker and prone to things that can hurt a normal human being.

Freddy Krueger first appeared in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Here, he was a former child murderer who was eventually apprehended by authorities. However, he managed to evade prosecution due to some technical violation made by the police during his arrest. Because of this, the parents around his neighborhood took justice in their own hands and they burned him alive in the boiler room that he used in hiding his victims. The movie’s protagonist, Nancy Thompson, was able to defeat him but before the film ended, it was shown that Freddy Krueger survived.

The movie Dream Warrior tackled Freddy’s origins. It was revealed that he was the son of an asylum nurse who was raped by insane criminals when she was accidentally left behind the asylum where she worked.

In Freddy vs. Jason, Freddy was sent with another villain, Jason Voorhess, to hell. There, Freddy fought a bloody battle with Jason where he was decapitated. However, it was still unclear whether Freddy survived at the end.

In 2010, Freddy made another appearance in the big screen with the remake of the original Nightmare on Elm Street movie. The movie did a slight twist with story as it suggested that Freddy was in reality a child molester who exacted vengeance on the people who made accusations about him.

Freddy Krueger also made TV appearances. He appeared on Freddy’s Nightmares anthology series which started airing in 1988. Freddy’s main role was as the show’s host but he also appeared on some episode until the series was cancelled in 1990.
